COVID-19 Update: Dear Applicants and Potential Participants,

Beginning January 1, 2023 Conservation Legacy will no longer require COVID-19 vaccination for members, staff or volunteers.

COVID-19 vaccinations are still highly recommended and encouraged by the organization, and we will closely monitor the national picture as well as our own trends and protocols as we continue to navigate the pandemic.

Challenging and rewarding! Leadership positions with Southeast Conservation Corps (SECC) give leaders a chance to grow, while inspiring and mentoring their crew.

Southeast Conservation Corps’ Crew Leaders perform many roles and are the key to our program’s success. The position is multi-faceted and demanding, but with opportunity for enormous rewards. Successful candidates will demonstrate resourcefulness, effective communication skills, excellent judgement, maturity, initiative, professionalism, and the desire to devote themselves to a crew experience where the needs of others are placed above oneself. The Crew Leader position requires, mentorship, patience, technical aptitude, focus on efficiency, and a high level of comfort in the outdoors. Crew Leaders are ultimately responsible for the success of the crew. SECC offers opportunities to lead adult, youth and Veterans Fire Corps crews.

Current Openings for Individual Placement Interns

SECC places college-aged young people and recent graduates 18–35 with both public and private resource managers, including federal agencies and local non-profit organizations. Typically eight to twenty-four weeks in duration, interns will serve at locations throughout Southeast region. Each internship offers a unique opportunity for immersive training, career development, and positive impact—for both the intern and the communities where we serve.

Southeast Conservation Corps (SECC) seeks applicants who are interested in fully committing to the program, who are willing to overcome any challenges and those who will take advantage of the opportunities, skills and trainings that are offered throughout their term of service. SECC seeks those who will benefit from and contribute the most to the program; previous experience is not required for most positions.

Southeast Conservation Corps emphasizes the recruitment and engagement of diverse teams and individuals who learn from each other and their projects in a supportive environment.
