Public Affairs Careers in Washington D.C. and Abroad
This discussion with John Nasir and Peggy Wilhide Nasir (The World Bank) will take place Friday, April 23, 2019 between Noon to 1pm in Ten Hoor Hall 30. We will follow UA pandemic protocols in effect at the time which will likely include masks and social distancing.

Are you interested in a career in public affairs or international development? Come hear about the experience of two Alabama-educated senior officers at the World Bank Group in Washington D.C., an international economist and a communications officer. They will take questions about working in international organizations and government agencies in Washington D.C. as well as the challenges of working abroad.

John Nasir holds a PhD in economics from the University of Maryland and has worked at The World Bank Group since 1997. He specializes in macro-economics and private sector development issues and has worked on a variety of countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. He served as Country Economist for West Bank and Gaza between 2007 and 2011 and currently leads the Asia Economics and Strategy Group for the International Finance Corporation.

Peggy Wilhide Nasir is Senior Communications Officer at The World Bank. She has also served as Communications Director for the Democratic National Committee, Press Secretary for Vice President Albert Gore and Head of Public Affairs at NASA.

Sponsored by the Program for Middle East Studies, Master of Public Administration Program, and the Department of Political Science at the University of Alabama.
